New Project: Circumpolar Health Systems Innovation Team

Qaujigiartiit is part of a team of researchers that recently received funding through the Canadian Institutes of Health Research Community Based Primary Health Care funding call for a new project entitled Circumpolar Health Systems Innovation Team.

Over the course of the next 3 years, this team will work to explore the successes and challenges that exist in Circumpolar Health Care Systems; develop a set of indicators for system performance; explore specific aspects of the northern health care system, such as med-evacs and how community members engage with the system; use of remote and long distance technologies to increase access to services; and how the system may operate differently in built or portable environments.

The emphasis of this research project is innovation and in seeking innovative solutions and opportunities to improve health systems in the Circumpolar north through the spirit of collaboration.

The next meeting of the research team will be in Iqaluit, NU in November 2013.
